Washim is a city and a municipal council in Washim district in the Indian
state of Maharashtra. Area of the district is 5150 km².

Washim which was also known as Vatsagulma was the seat of power during Vakataka
dynasty.

Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Washim has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national
average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 62%. In Washim, 15% of the population is under 6 years of
age.
Though washim is district place.The Karanja(Taluka)is leading in educational
facilities.
History
Washim district was formed on 1 July, 1998 CE. Washim was once known as
Vatsagulma, the capital of the Vatsagulma line of Vakataka dynasaty. In the year 1905, during the period of the British Raj,
Washim district was bifurcated into two separate districts, namely, Akola District and Yeotmal
District.
Divisions
This district is divided into 2 sub-divisions and 6 talukas (tehsils).
The talukas are Malegaon, Mangrulpir, Karanja, Manora, Washim and Risod.
There
are 4 Vidhan Sabha constituencies in this district. These are Medshi, Washim (SC), Mangrulpir and Karanja. Washim is the only
Lok Sabha constituency of the district, consisting of all 4 Assembly segments of the district and two assembly segments of
Yeotmal district.
MALEGAON
Malegaon is a city in the Nashik District of the
Indian state of Maharashtra. It is located at 20°33'N, 74°32'E, around 280 km northeast of state capital Mumbai. Malegaon
lies at the confluence of Girna and Mosam rivers.
Malegaon, one of the largest cities in northwest Maharashtra,
is a major textile producing centre and is famous for its power-looms. It is located on the Mumbai-Agra national highway
(N.H.03). Nearly three-quarters of Malegaon's 700,000 people belong to India's minority Muslim community. It has a history
of communal violence [citation needed] and the town is divided by a river Mosam separating the two communities. The city has
a 75% Muslim population as well as a Muslim medical college and a madrasa for girls. It also has Maharaja sayajirao Gaekwad
college of science, commerce & arts, and Malegaon High School and Junior College. Malegaon have a fort of Raja Naru
Shankar.
2006 Malegaon blasts
The 2006 Malegaon bombings were a series of bomb blasts that
took place on 8 September 2006 in Malegaon, a town in the Nashik district of the Indian state of Maharashtra, located at some
290 km to the northeast of state capital Mumbai.
The explosions, which caused the deaths of at least 37 people and
injured over 125 more, took place in a Muslim cemetery, adjacent to a mosque, at around 13:15 local time after Friday prayers
on the Shab e Bara'at holy day. Most of the blast victims were Muslim pilgrims. Security forces spoke of "two bombs attached
to bicycles", but other reports indicated that three devices had exploded. A stampede ensued after the devices exploded. A
curfew was imposed in the town and state paramilitaries were deployed in sensitive areas to prevent unrest. According to
Maharashtra Police, blasts are the handiwork of Student Islamic Movement of
India.
MANGRULPIR
Mangrulpir is a city and a municipal council in Washim
district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 66%. In
Mangrulpir, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age. Mangrulpir, is mostly famous for Monuments & Holi Place Of Pir
Hazrat Qualandariya, Birbalnath Maharaj, Diwan Sahib Baba These Middle Era Saints.

Birbalnath Maharaj Which is owned by Thakur Community Of The M.Nath. in the middle of city. There's Fair Every year for
Birbalnath Maharaj.2007 Fair (Jatra or Mela) will start 5th of February. Dargah Hazrat Qualandariya is the holi place for
Muslims.The name of MangrulNath is given in the memory of BirbalNath maharaj. Beside there is good cultural as well as good
Educational environment in the school. Sambhaji Brigade is organisation which works on social front.This organisation is very
powerful in taluka.these people have arrested growth of blind beliefs in taluka. Politics of city is dominated by
"Marathas"..Shri Subhash Thakare is MLA and very powerful politician in Taluka..

KARANJA
Karanja is a city and a municipal council in Washim district in the
Indian state of Maharashtra.
Demographics

population of 60,158. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Karanja has an average literacy rate of 72%,
higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 67%.
Karanja is famous
as a very holy place for Hindus, Jains and Shivdharmians. It is the birth place of Shri Nrusimha Saraswati Swami Maharaj,
supposed as the 2nd incarnation of Lord Dattatreya. The town is named after Saint Karanj. There is also a large lake known as
"Rishi Talao". The town has been looted twice by famous Maratha sardar "Prataprao Gujar" on the order of then sole sovereign
Hindu King Shri Shivaji Maharaj.
RISOD
Risod is a city and a municipal
council in Washim district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

Risod is located at
19.97° N 76.78° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 542 metres (1778
feet).
